The Basics

If you are new to the clarinetist (or returning after a long break), we cover how to assemble it, how to shape your mouth and blow for great tone, how to read music, the best position for your hands and fingers and more.

Along with the basics, we'll give you rhythmic training, many educational videos, and we'll support you with articulation, high note and tone training.

How to play with more ease

Did you know that how you hold your hands can make high notes much easier? How about what you need to know with air and tongue position for good-sounding high notes? The video symbol shows you that we've got a video to really show you the best habits to sound great.

Fun Music

Part of the reason that we chose to write this book was the access that we had to fun and recognizable music styles including rock, pop, jazz, folk, movie soundtracks, classical and more. Check out the list of tunes below. It won't feel like "practising" when you are playing music that you know and like.

In the digital format (which you will receive within about 24 hours of ordering), you will see all digital media (videos, color photographs, audio tracks etc) embedded right onto each page. This is easier to navigate than the printed copy. You will receive a unique digital code and you login to a streaming site. It tracks your progress, and can be used on multiple devices. When you login, it automatically starts on the last page that you viewed. The digital table of contents makes it very easy to jump quickly to other pages. This service needs an internet connection to work.

The paper printed format is in easy-to-read print and the music is well laid out. You access the digital resources with a code at a separate website, and just match the electronic media to the page that you are viewing.

Both copies include:

  • Lots of fun music
  • Play-along duets
  • Play-along solo songs
  • Rhythm training
  • Loopy Loops to improve your finger technic
  • A photographic fingering chart
  • Detailed videos to show you the basics
